So I am trying to clean up the brake master cylinder area of the car and I was wondering if this is the original cover for the master? Please see enclosed picture. It seems to be gray? Anyone know what paint to buy for a match? Also, now that I think about it, is there supposed to be a gasket for the cover?

I think this cover would have been natural metal (like yours is), May have had a zinc coating. My MC cover is a natural grayish colour as well. Paint won’t work well because of being this close to brake fluid it would take the paint off in minutes if it comes into contact with it. And yes there is a rubber gasket between the MC and the cover. It’s really important to have this in place or else you will contaminate the fluid. Brake fluid will absorb moisture from the air and cause rusting inside all of your components and will also lower boiling point of the fluid which can cause severe brake fade under hard breaking.
