1973 B5 blue w/red stripes Road Runner GTX sunroof car with 59k mile original paint original survivor

Go on with your day but keep up the holier than though insults.

Wow. FL

The thread had interest,[check my first post in the thread], but then your f-ing attitude came into it. Don’t act like it didn’t. It is obvious.

Don’t worry, the thread is off my watchlist like many others now.

I’m just interested in the car. It’s very unique, unknown, and unsung. 440, sunroof, good color, cool stripe color…

The car stands by itself. It doesn’t need a term or label. People can call it whatever. I can see it myself.

I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist about if it is a survivor, barn find, whatever. 440 GTX Road Runners were rare. Sunroofs are rare. Blue with red stripes I have to believe is a rare color combo. The combination is likely extremely rare.

Having owned a 73 Road Runner (340) for 42 years, I am keenly interested in this car and what it has. The details of various parts and features may be very valuable to others too. Plus, guys like @69Coronetrt may be interested too since it had an interesting set of options.

Well said, I'm more than happy to share any knowledge or findings about this car with any interested party. I know the fuselage body cars have until recently never been appreciated, especially the 73 & 74's and from what I see there is not a large information base on them like the 70 and back cars. I like all cars and their history and I think this should be preserved. It would be an honor to help or contribute to others who are much more knowledgeable about them than me to help document these cars while I do what I can to be a good custodian of this unique vehicle. Once again, thanks for helping run this forum!!

I was looking at your photo of the rear valance (splash pan) under the rear bumper where the exhaust tips are. Is that pan notched for the exhaust tips? I know the 1971/72 Plymouth B-bodies were usually notched for the exhaust tips like you have. I have a 1974 Charger Rallye that had the slotted chrome tips on it when I bought it in 1987. It did not have that pan notched and the tips were just installed below the pan as yours look to be. I installed a notched pan on it when I put it back together. Just wondering. Thanks for the photos.

Only being able to speak of the RR’s but you are correct, mine is not notched

Now that's interesting. I wonder what determined if a 73/74 B-body got the notched or standard pan? I thought California cars got the downturned exhaust with no tips and the standard pan with no notch. I thought maybe mine had the slotted chrome tips added later. Maybe someone can add to our knowledge on this.
Thanks.

Just a guess, could there be a variation in design from the Charger to the RR's? I'm sure others will chime in, but very interesting question

There is some discussion in a thread from a few years ago. Here is one post commenting on California:

This is an often repeated story that is mostly wrong...

Chrysler sold lots of cars in California with tips, lots of 340’s, 383’s, 440-4’s, 400’s & 360’s...
Plus 440-6 & 426 Hemi up to 69... but the 70 & 71 440-6 & 426 Hemi could not pass California’s noise testing ordinance...

Click on the up arrow next to "1 Wild R/T" name and it will take you to his post in the thread.

Otherwise, here is the thread:

Rear Valance and Dual Exhaust

I had completely forgotten I started that thread over 5 years ago. It sounds like some did and some didn't. As stated here, maybe it was different with Plymouth.

I can say my 73 Road Runner (340 car) did not have notches in the valence and it was built with exhaust tips.
