1973 charger will not start

i have a 1973 charger with a all stock 318 and it will not start it just clicks. it ran fine i drove it home and parked it and went to get back in and leave and now it will not start? just clicks battery is good and starter is new. the ballast resistor is geting very hot and so is my blaster coil? thanks

Make sure all your battery terminal connections are good and the connections to the starter relay. Tap the starter with a hammer and see if it starts for shits and giggles.

i just put a new starter in because i thought the starter was bad. and it is still doing the same thing? could my ballast resistor be bad?

Turn you lights to on position and see if you have lights. If you have lights. Have someone stand where they can watch the lights. Then with the lights on, turn the key. Do the lights stay on or go out?

No, it won't do anything if it has a bad ballast resistor, if it is just "clicking" it is usually the starter (could be a bad starter even "new" ones are bad from time to time) also it is normal for the ballast resistor to get smoking hot (burn your ***!)
Did you try jumping the starter relay?

It is possible that the starter is hung up, partly meshed into flywheel, it happens, try if all else points ok to push down on your fan belt and turn the engine just a tad the opposite way it turns over. Then try it.

Lights stayed on so that is good. Like someone said earlier...a dead spot in the starter (tap with hammer a few times), loose connection somewhere at the starter, starter relay or possibly a faulty starter relay.
