Hey everyone,

I just found a 73 Dodge W100 2WD truck that has a 318 in it. I have a few questions on this truck. I know there is a truck site and I should go over there but I have not done so yet. I get a lot of good info here.

I want to use this truck as a parts truck for a T bucket build.

The truck has a 318 in it. What trans would it have had in it?

What rear end?

The guy also said it has disk breaks all around, did they come with disk?

Also what would have been the radiator size?

It has steel wheels on it can anyone give me the size of what would have came on the truck?

He is asking $800 but I got it down to $650 and if the trans would be a 904 or 727 I'm good to go and if the rear is 8 3/4 I'm ready to buy. Also if it truly did and does have disk breaks that is a major plus.

Thanks everyone for the help and info. I want to build a T bucket and I want it to be as much Mopar as it can be.

First off, if it's a 2WD, it's a D100. The W designation means 4WD. D means 2WD.

Trucks usually had the 727 if it was an automatic. Look at the pan shape to be sure. If it's a square pan with one corner knocked off, it's a 904. If it has a corner knocked off and a kickout at the passenger's side front corner, it's a 727.

If the rear is original, it's likely an 8 3/4.

No. They did not come with 4 wheel disc brakes. They had to have been added. Don't look at the disc brakes as a "plus". It could be that it's somebody's cobbled up bullshit. At the very best, they WERE swapped on as no trucks came with 4 wheel discs.

26" wide radiator.

The wheel bolt pattern would have been 5x5. Only later on the D150 did they use the 5X4.5 car pattern. Probably 6.5 or 7" wide.

Don't just go on what it SHOULD have come with. Look under it and see for yourself. That's an old truck. Stuff couldda been swapped a hundred times.

Thank you I might go and take a look at it. I also thought they never came with disk breaks.

Also thanks on the info for the trans.

I might just be better off getting the motor and trans and rear all from a yard if this truck turns out to not be as stated.

I dont know dude. Sounds like you might can get it pretty cheap. You can either re sell the truck or even scrap it as scrap prices are pretty high. You likely have all the drivetrain in one place. Might not find that again.

Very true on all of it right there and cheap. I just read the add and it said its not running but he told me today it was. He said some wire was a problem. I told him it didnt matter about the wires I just want motor, trans, radiator and maybe the rear end. Then I found it that it had disk breaks and the peeked my interest.

I also have a 75 Dodge truck that I want to do some day and if the bed is good and would work on my truck I might keep and sell the rest for scrap.

I'm just kind of linning some things up to do my build and jump feet first.
