1973 Road Runner

Thank you! Sorry progress is slow and I'm not posting too much haha. I'll send you a PM.

Thank you! For now I just want her back on the road. Someday I'll repaint it the stock color. I love the JF8 Forest Green Metallic

ENJOY her!!!

Not much to update again. Finally got my new battery tray from AMD, and started disassembling the A833. Front bearing has a lot of play in it, and the input shaft is badly rusted where it rides in the pilot bearing, which I hear will make it howl bad.

Not much to update again. I finally got a new steering box in the car, and I also had her up on the lift to put some brake calipers on the front, and finish the rest of the steering (tie rods and stuff). I had to swipe some brand new tires I had up on the rack to swap onto the front. The old BF Goodrich silvertowns wouldn't hold air anymore, and it's kind of hard to move a project car around without tires. Too bad they are only 225/50r14s because they are brand spankin new.

Also, if anyone would suggest a new tire size, that would be great. I'm going to get new wheels and tires soon I think. I've been thinking either 15x7 with 225/60r15s all the way around or 15x8 with 245/60r15s. Any input is appreciated!

I personally like the deeper look of the 8" wide rims as opposed to the 7's. I have two cars, each with 275/60-15 rear tires and one has the 8" front rims with 245's and the other 7's with 225/60-15's. Just my preference.

If you look at my car, I am running 15x8's all the way around with bigger tire on the rear. 235's front and 255's rear, both 60 series.

I don't have a lot to update. Just been waiting for parts. I ordered all new brake lines front to back, hardware and sending unit for the gas tank, and some other smaller pieces I need. Hopefully this weekend I'm going to pick up a third member and gear set, tailshaft housing for the transmission, rear backing plates, and strut rods.

I did finally rebuild my water pump, blast the intake and paint it, and install a few other things on the motor.

I have M/T 295/65 -15 ET street radial on 15x8 rims on the back of my car.

I like to have a 28" tall tire on the front and a 30" on the back.

These cars have such huge wheel wells that small tires get lost under it.

I agree! The 14" rallyes with the 70 series tire that was on there would get lost in the wheel wells.

Yesterday I bought a rebuilt Holley 3310-4 from a buddy for $150. Not sure what to do with the coil now though. Slowly getting all the pieces I need. I also installed the new front brake lines yesterday.

Well here is my Craigslist score today. Found this guy close to me who apparently has a large stock pile of mopar parts by accident. I picked up a 741 case with 3.23 gears, 70-74 b/e body tail shaft housing, two backing plates, two strut rods, and an NOS 3.23 gear set and cone bearing for just $325 for everything. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

I didn't want to bore you guys with a bunch more pictures, but this past weekend I installed the strut rods with polyurethane bushings, the rear differential, installed my rebuilt alternator with 440 source brackets, and installed new calipers and pads, all the new front brake lines, and stainless braided brake hoses. This morning I ordered a rebuild kit and shift pad from Brewer's Performance for my A833.

I know I haven't been on here in a long time but I haven't had much time to work on the car lately. I've had these Mickey Thompson ET Drags on the shelf for a few years so I decided to put on the roadrunner

Great Car. I love the 73, 74 Birds. Definitely keep the clutch pedal.

Thank you! I just need to get the A833 put back together, a couple other odds and ends, and it'll be back on the road!

Awesome project! It's coming right along.

I thought long and hard about putting the silver on my grill but I didn't want to take away from the emblem. image.jpg

Put the A833 back together the other day. Also had the flywheel machined. All I need now is a clutch and the motor and tranny can go in.

Motor and tranny are finally in the car! I went with a Ram muscle car clutch. I'm going to drop off the radiator at the radiator shop on Monday, and try to get the headers in.
