Just picked up this 1971 charger in easter morning on the way home from church. it was a daily driver from 2001 until 2007. i think it has the 318 v8 and 7s7 trans. the car has 114k original miles, and both the engine ans tranny were rebuilt at 80k. has been sitting since 2007. he car fired up for a second, then it flooded badly out the ventui, so the primary float is stuck im guessing.

The engine has

Speed demon 650 carb
Edelbrock performer intake
mallory ignition
super stock coil
dual flowmaster mufflers

Interior

Bench seat
column shift
square gauges
no headliner (new one in the package though)
worn out carpet
cracked dash
ok door panels

exterior

ok windows
rust on the roof
rust on both rockers
rust coming though the underbody panels

I will post tons of pictures like i do in all my threads( new to this site though)

let the build begin!!

I look forward to your thread. I just got a 73. I wish it was in as good of shape as yours.

thanks! my plan depends on my budget... i just pulled all the interior out tonight to check for rust. the drivers floorpan has a few minor pinholes, so that will be an easy fix. there are some rust spots that are not so good that i will take pictures of. for the most part its very solid.

im looking for interior now... i need some seat skins, carpet, and im looking for some color match green jade interior paint to revive my inside plastic pieces. my nephew used some on his mustang that turned out amazing.

I am having a really hard time finding Jade Green interior pieces.... do you guys think i should just go black? if i do that, it will be so much easier... but i dont want to ruin my car's value. its hard when no one makes or sells my correct interior color thought....

i don't think you will hurt the value of the car at all! it is a baseline 74 charger. i have a 74 se i built it the way i want it from a basket case roller do what you want it is much easier and you get to enjoy your car much sooner! if it was mine i would get a rallye dash with the wires put a tough wheel in it and find a power bulge hood it will look just like a rally charger. but like i said make it what you want! take a look for my resto thread on here i did most of what you are doing i posted many pics.

I have some jade green SE interior pieces.

What do you need?

I have a nice back seat cover (been a while, probably should verify), and a nice buddy seat, as well as misc panels and trim.

Condition varies.

I wish Mopar had introduced that jade green years earlier.

I really like it.

YY1, the only pieces that are damaged, are my dash and front bench seat. all my other plastics i think i will just paint with interior paint. no one sells jade green interior paint/restore products. i think i may convert the whole interior to black... it will be so much easier and i think it will look better.

ok cool i think i will go ahead and make the switch to black. BTW nice thread, i just read through it. i would LOVE to find some bench seats, console, shifter assy, and round gauges

I got the rest of the interior minus the dash out tonight. Got the floor evaluated after I stripped the surface rust of with a wire wheel. It looks like the drivers side floor pan needs to be replaced no way around it. The rust isn't really bad, just pin holes here and there, and one that is a little bigger.

very common problem on the driver floor pan..easy to replace just take your time

Im going to try to find a cheap pan online. Are the any guides on this site? I know it's pretty straight forward, but pics and a walkthrough are always awesome

I found a driver's side floor pan on rock auto for $58 plus shipping. Seems like a good price to me

Nice charger. looks clean on the outside. Pretty typical with the drivers floor. I think coronet14 just had his dash done, but if you're on a budget like most of us, black would be the easiest way to go since that color can match with any outside color.

Thanks! I checked out your build, I love that color!!

I rebuild the demon carb today, replaced all fuel lines, thermostat, temp sensor, and the radiator cap. Got the carb rough tuned and fired it up!!

It idles great. Doesn't do so well under heavy throttle. The car has a Mallory ignition box with a super stock coil and a while slew of wires. I am going to get an HEI distributor and get rid of all the other crap.

My radiator is also leaking around the filter cap neck. Gonna set how much to get it fixed. I found a brand new 3 row aluminum radiator for $100

Carb was pretty clean before the rebuild

Nice car, I love that color, looks like your busy, busy fixen that baby up! A new radiator sounds like a good idea, that Texas heat will be coming on strong soon.

Keep us updated!

Thanks a lot! Haha yeah it is already warming up. I had to get out my port-a-cool fan yesterday. If my radiator is too bad to repair, or it cost more than $100 to fix, I'll buy that all aluminum one. It's a really good deal. I think I will probably put on some dual electric fans also. Instead of the flex fan that is on it now. I put 2 10 inch fans on my 94 f150 5.0L and they have kept it cool all year round.

Got all my interior parts cleaned up today with some degreaser and soap so I can paint them black soon.

Gonna take my radiator to the ship tomorrow to get fixed. It's leaking at the radiator cap neck where it meets the base.

Also took a wire wheel to it to get the surface corrosion off. Gonna put some rust converter on it and paint it black after its fixed.
