Fun fact : There's no such thing as a matching numbers lil red express because the factory left the engine ID pads blank on those vehicles. Lil reds were also illegal in a few states, Maryland and California to mention a few. Very cool truck with lots of collector appeal.

Wow, bump because seeing that truck just makes me smile. I wish I could afford to give it a home, but it's just not in the cards for me. That is a truck that you just plain don't see very often any more and it looks pretty good from here! I have never owned a truck before but would have been all over this the day it was posted if I had the cash. So, someone give her a good home and bring her back to glory!

I had a LRE tagged in Maryland for 7 years. Had the factory exhaust and never had any issues with registration. When I took it to the emission test station every 2 years, I was granted a no cost wavier because they couldn't do a sniff test with their equipment. The manager of the place joked with me the only reason I kept it on the road was to get over on the BS emission program! He was partially correct!

Good luck bump! Hopefully someone near me can snag this truck up so I can see it out on the road!

I can't believe this isn't gone already. I wish I had the money, but alas, it is what it is. I'm passing this on to my mechanic. He needs another truck like he needs a whole in his head, but he has been saying that he's been feening for a mopar now.

I myself would have to say that your wrong about Maryland too. I know of a 78' that was sold new in Maryland. It was bought new for a Classmate of mine for graduation from HS We all watched it unload off the truck.

Growing up in CA, I can remember a guy in my home town having one in the early eighties...so no, they could be registered in CA as well.

Must be gone,I didnt get a reply. I will be in Ohio with a trailer on the 24th and 25th of this month. If you get in touch maybe we can deal. Thanks

My brother has one of those 629 remaining LRT's. He is the original owner and goes to the nationals almost every year with it. I think the one year it was on a poster for the nationals...

Just wondering where the "number left" figure is coming from.
How could anyone possibly know that?

I think Govier uses a term like "There are only 4 of these THAT I KNOW OF"-
and that magically gets translated into "1 of 4".

Could the 629 figure represent those on someone's registry?
That's a lot different.

I'm actually somewhat in the market for a reasonably priced LRE, just a lot closer.

The one in my signature is for sale. If you are interested send me a PM with your email address.

Wish i had the cash. This actually makes me want a truck and I've never had one. Good luck with sale, hope it finds a good home!

By closer, I meant FL.

There's a 79 with no motor 5 min from my house for 2K, and there's been a nice shiny, running driving one at the local shows for 6K.
I bet I could put a late model 5.9 with O/D and FI in that 79 for less than 1K!!

My aim is to use it for adverizing purposes for my new warehouse complex (gawd, that sounds pompus), and I'm sure it will attract attention, especially if I put a big sign either in the bed, or in place of where the side stakes would go on a Warlock.

I should also be able to drive it to Lowes/Home depot, and even to swap meets, and write off the mileage for business purposes.

Should be able to write off the whole thing, as it will truly be a vehicle (and sign) for the business.
