Being in the truck side of things, and without seeing the truck personally, I would put the “hasn’t run in awhile and needs fuel, brake, and tuneup work” value at $15k. That is headroom to spend the $2k or more you’re going to need to bring it back to the road. You didn’t mention tires, but I’ll bet it needs those too. One thing that hurts it a little is the fact that it’s a 79, which is not as desireable as a 78. And according to the Hagerty valuation tool, a number 2 value would be $37k? Real world I would say that’s really about $32k if it was really clean and nice. JMO of course, but a pretty knowledgeable O.

All these are on the slate to be saved, sooner than later if I can get the wheels of progress turning.

I’m not waiting, I’m herding cats! I have a buyer for about 10 of the vehicles there, but getting an answer from all 5 members of the family proves to be very difficult. And no personal interest by them in any of it, they just want the money. Very frustrating at times!

I had a guy do that one time who was seriously lowballing me. He put the cash in my hand and refused to take it back, and I wasn't making the deal. Eventually I just stuck it in my pocket and told him fine, I'll keep the car and the cash, and turned to walk away. He changed his tune real quick then. He ended up buying the car but at a price that I'd accept.

Exactly. Friend or not, known for how long, whatever, if you're selling something, the seller puts the price on it. I still stand by my comment.

I just sold two of them recently. The 79 LRT was very solid, but needed a complete restoration. I sold it to my friend for six grand. I believe that I could have gotten seventy five hundred for it without a problem. The second one is a 78 LRT. It had sat for a while, but it ran and yard drives. I got twelve thousand dollars for that one. I could have held out and got thirteen thousand dollars, if I would have held out,but it was my truck for many years and it is going to a good home. Real world current market sales. The first two pictures are of the 79 LRT,the second two are of the 78 LRT. I would venture a guess that the 79 you are taking about is worth somewhere in the eight to ten grand range depending upon condition. The 78 LRT is the more desirable version of the LRT.

Always wanted a Lil Red and always keep an eye out. One was just listed locally for $12k, solid truck needing a lot, thought that was a pretty good deal.
