2 speed wiper car, making a 3 speed wiper just work in one speed??

Have a '69 Road Runner w/2 speed wipers. Got a fresh air air cleaner & need to put a 3 speed wiper motor. Is there a way to make just 1 speed work with the factory switch/wiring? Not wanting to change out a bunch of stuff. Because I'm not sure how long I'm running this set-up.

If you put a three speed motor on the firewall and continue to use the 2 speed crank arm you'll get into some binding issues because the 2 speed is a concentric motor and the three speed is a non concentric motor so you'll have some issues with the linkage and it binding and not allowing full travel, which can also overheat the motor. Just bear in mind when you're working on the motor, turning the switch off doesn't cut the power to the motor, turning the key off does. If you retain your two speed switch you'll only get one speed and it will only park where you shut it off at, BUT the three speed will allow for your new set up where the 2 speed doesn't give you the clearance you need. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but ...

I have a 69 GTX that originally came with a 2 speed wiper set up and some were along the way before me they converted the wiper motor and arm to a 3 speed not the switch and i am getting what you said it only has 1 speed and no park except were you turn it off the wipers do not bind so i think they must have changed everything rite except the 2 speed switch so if i understand you correctly if i buy a 3 speed wiper switch and change it in the dash then i should get all 3 speeds and my park should start to work also. As far as i can tell from all my searching that the wiring should be there under the dash and the switch should plug in to the existing plug.

Albert- just looked at my dodge manual and it looks like you're right. Don't forget Murphy's rule though. lol

wirings plugs and everything are the same... change switch crank and motor ( which cames with the harness ) and done. If you are gonna make it, make it right

Ok thanks i will try this all i need to get yet then is a good 3 speed wiper switch. If i get a 3 speed switch i should have the three speeds but if i find a variable one will that work as well or dose that take a different motor. Thanks again for all your help from all of you.

Variable and 3 speeds motors are the same. Just switch changes
