My Jeep has 100,000 miles , she has the air suspension and I like it. But it will fail so my question is to replace front air shocks or convert to an air delete ? I knew this when I bought the Jeep, any opinions will help.

I've seen people put coil springs in place of the air bags in the air ride lincoln cars from the 90's. I know cause I robbed the 8.8 irs out of one for my 34 dodge truck project. not sure if that will work for you or not?

Like Don I have in the past delt with Lincoln air struts. We sourced ours used from a local yard.
Never worked on the Jeep set up, I guess at 100k question is how long do you plan to drive it and how much $ do you want to invest.
If the jeep set up is simular to the ford/ lincoln i would replace all 4 corners if switching systems.

I have a 14 Summit with air ride and 109k, zero issues. When I worked in jeep service we'd see valves fail from time to time, and maybe a ping tank (under the back seat) or a compressor (usually after a valve failure caused it to run nonstop for a while and burned it out) here and there, but rarely a shock itself.

You COULD install the mechanical suspension from a Laredo...but do it all at once, not just one end or the other. And you may end up with a warning light, as the computer will look for air and not receive the expected signals.

I have a 97 Lincoln. My suggestion is replace and never worry about it again. There are so many other parts in the system that are going to fail down the road. You will constantly be chasing issues as the vehicle gets older. Coil over springs and struts are the way to go.

I have a 21 trailhawk same suspension. Not worried about it put 200K on my last 2013 grand Cherokee with same suspension and was trouble free. I suppose if you don’t go off road and don’t need that 2” or change it out with a leveling kit up front. Did that on my 2011.

Our 2016 Jeep has the air suspension, it has 78k miles on it and so far the suspension has been trouble free. My 2017 Rebel on the other hand has been in the shop more than at home in recent months with all kinds of air suspension problems. I figure whenever I get the Rebel back if it totally fails once my warranty is over, I might buy the kit to convert it over to non-air suspension. It's gonna come down to cost of how much it will take me to fix it myself.

I appreciate all the feed back, I like the air suspension so I think I’m going to not worry about it anymore and let the cards fall where they will. Thanks to all and Merry Christmas !!
