Well....
I had posted my "tale of woe" in the Electrical and Ignition forum when, back in October 2022 for the,
THE one event my wife and I take time off for, the week of Cruisin the Coast, my Roadrunner 440 6bbl decided to run like POO-POO and all I could do was check all the quick, easy stuff, and none of that helped.
The last step until I got into disassembling all the carburetors (and I didn't suspect them anyway) was changing out all 8 spark plugs. It's been at least 5 years, and I know they have been through less than ideal A/F ratios and so on, so after gritting my teeth in anger and disappointment the couple of days I drove the Roadrunner at Cruisin the Coast, I went about changing the plugs. 2 or 3 plugs in and the one by the dipstick and power steering pump fittings was "hard to get out" and the new one wouldn't thread.
I ordered a really cool thread chaser that collapses so you can push it past the threads and then expand it to normal diameter, and chase the threads on the way OUT, so as to not push debris IN. I got that done, and it worked, but then I couldn't get either of my 2 sockets on the rear plug hex.
I finally got another socket and it worked.
Well..
.today I finished changing my "sooty" plugs and that solved the problem! So I'm driving my Roadrunner to a local monthly car show, about 15 minutes from my house, and what used to be a bi-monthly to monthly event, going to various local car club shows, but I haven't been doing that for probably 2 years now, is ON again.
What I really want to share is HOW EXCITED and HAPPY I am! I had "forgotten" how much I enjoyed it, as simple as it is.
Just like listening to music in my Theater Room used to be a nearly daily "decompression therapy" session, but I had gotten away from it, after a couple of months of my brain telling me "I NEED THIS" I got back to making time for some "sessions" and it has helped me out so much in my overall attitude.
Have fun, love and be lovable, and GO DO IT, especially if you really feel the need!
