When Doctor Diff first came out with the 3.23 gears for the Dana 60 I signed up to be the test case. That was a few years back and so far all good. He had Strange put together a new S60 for my '65 Coronet and he hung his rear disc brake kit on it. I went with the 3.23 gears since I'm using a Doug Nash five speed that has the extra low first gear. I was running 3.54 gears before and they were just a tad too low in first gear.

Is strange going to start offering the 3.23 gear set? I ask as I’m looking to order a S60 and I’m local to Strange

IIRC they make a 3.31:1 gear for a Dana 60...

or they used to anyway, it was used in some 4x4's IIRC

where to get them I don't know
Summit Racing has the front/reverse rotation gear in 3.31:1,
'Motive Gear' brand
but no listing for the rears

I have bought 2 S60's now, both through Cass, 1 with 3.23's. From what I remember, they were cheaper going through Cass than directly from Strange. It would be worth checking out to buy from Cass and pick up at Strange.

Who is Cass?

I think the 3.31s are for a dana 61. Looks exactly like a 60, but a different carrier that can use higher gears. I think there was a 3.07 too (3.08?).

Dana never made anything taller (lower numerically) for a Dana 60 than 3.54

Dana 61's can be had in 3.07, 3.31 (which I use), 3.54, 3.73, and 4.11 They are different because a Dana 61 has the pinion moved over 3/8" to the side compared to a Dana 60 to allow for a larger diameter pinion gear required as you get taller (numerically lower) in gear sets.

Dana 61's can be had in 3.07 (I had a F-250 with 3.07 gears and loved it)

I have a Dana 61 I put in a 69 AMC Rambler and run a set of 3.31 gears in it.
