3-4 synchronizer and mainshaft

went to slide the 3-4 syncs hub on and its to long, not enough room for the snap ring. 18 spline trans-70. The smaller hub fits but the big lug type doesn’t?? Main shaft different?

Can you give us a little more information? What parts have been replaced?

Got the trans (70) (confirmed from Brewers it’s an 18 spline) in a big box all apart. Case had cluster installed, main shaft has 2-3 gears and both synco hubs installed but 1-2 is big lug and 3-4 thin one and had the big lug brass ring against 3 wrong. Had two big lug syncro hubs but when trying them snap ring won’t engage slot. Reason for my question on different main shaft size.

Update, found the problem, the 3-4 synco was installed on the 1-2 side. Switched and all’s good.
