3 speed wiper problem

Looking for help with my 3 speed wiper moter. I had it restored by Kim @ passions4mopars in 2020. It came back looking great. Fast forward to finally completing my build and running into the following problem. When plugged into the bulkhead the motor seems to try to turn every minute or so with the key on and switch off. Motor runs when the switch is on, but doesn't park when turned off. I pulled the bulkhead connector and tried the park test but nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rich

Make sure the motor is properly grounded along with the dash cluster where the switch is mounted.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to eliminate that by testing it while unplugged from the bulkhead.

That said, is your panel actually in place... as the switch needs it's ground to park the wipers.

I haven't taken it apart to check. The outside of it is beautiful. Why would you ask about the blasting media? Yes. The panel is in place but would not think that is important when bench testing it. Thanks for the response.

That rebuilder had an issue towards the end where many 'restored' motors looked good on the outside but inside they were redone improperly.

If you type their name in I'm sure you will see lots of threads explaining the issue.

I know this is an old thread, but just in case... I have a 3-speed wiper motor that I took apart and did a sort of rebuild on several years ago. As I recall, I dressed the commutator and brushes and lubed the bearings. It seems to work fine now. It might be worthwhile to open yours and have a look.

Wanted to update this thread. It looks like I was also bitten by passions4mopars. While the motor looked great on the outside it was a mess inside. Used and defective parts in there. Fortunately it was expertly repaired by @Topher . I wish I had found him first. Could have saved a lot of time and money. This is the second time I have used @Topher and have been extremely satisfied both times. I would highly recommend his services.
