Hi, guys I have another question. I have a mildly rebuilt 318. It has a 600cfm edlebrock carb, performer intake, .440 valve lift comp cam, a mopar orange ignition box and headers.

My question is what timing do you think will be best for this set up? Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you.

If you have a cranking compression in the 160 PSI range then maybe start with 10 deg initial and about 36 deg total all in by 2500-3000. Vac advance should add about 10 deg during cruise under light load. Also mixture plays a big roll so make sure the carb calibration is box stock (jetting and rods) then set the timing. Assuming you have 8.5:1 CR and about 160 PSI that should work fine with 87 gas. And your cam seems about right for a bone stock short block.

Small blocks don't like as much timing as Big blocks. I would'nt go more than 32 deg total.

Thanks guys. I brought my initial timing up to ~10-11 degrees and it made a huge difference. Added a lot more power to the low end. Thank you for the help
