On Mopars (1968) that came from the factory with a two bbl carb and single exhaust, what is different from this engine and a standard 383 4 bbl dual exhaust factory engine? Is there any differences internally (cam?) that would need attention to convert to 4 bbl, dual exhaust? Any help appreciated.

Mike

mostly just the cam and heavier duty valve springs, windage tray. 68 engines came single point distributers in 2 and 4 bl. 69's came with dual points.
accl / kick down linkage is different.

Cam is smaller and has dished pistons ie:lower compression

Thanks for the replies! Is the conversion worth the time without the internals massaged? Just want it to breath a bit easier in and out, no racing intentions.

I put a used Edelbrock aluminum dual plane intake on my 383 and factory high performance exhaust manifolds with duals on my 383 2-bbl single exhaust Satellite. Really woke it up.

That's what I'm looking for, waking it up a bit. To get serious costs more!:) Thank you for your comments.

Huge difference!!
I changed my 383 from two to four barrel... Holley 4160 770 CFM and a Performer RPM intake... I have stock exhaust manifolds dual pipes.. i need headers to fully benefit though..
On my 70 Coronet I had to use a K&N low profile air cleaner... the Performer RPM Dual Plane is as high as a single plane torquer!!
