383 Rebuild - New Piston Suggestions

Be real careful. Really hard to get off the shelf 383 pistons that will have useable compression. I shaved my heads ALOT and ended up with like 8.9:1 compression. and that was a closed chambered head. What is the cc of the heads? Pick a piston and heads and I can run some compression numbers for you.
Couldn’t agree more. I believe there is only one forged flat top that will give you 9.5 w open chamber heads and.020 gaskets. All the rest suck and kill power

The worth while pistons have all already been discussed. There are options that can get you to whatever CR you want for pump gas.

sorry i don't see any pistons. I would want a light weight forged piston with thin ring pistons with valve notches giving me 9.4 - 9.6 compression without decking the block or milling the heads more than .010 just to square it up if needed and a quench of .035 to .050 and running iron heads so would need two different sets for guys with closed heads and opened heads. would not want to use a .020 steel head gasket only for a last resort because of cooling leakage.
