So I got around to tearing down the 383 I bought last week. Going to build a mild/medium street engine for my 65 coronet. Motor is a D68 2 barrel with 906 heads.
I was very surprised to find a stock bore with a zero deck. Zero deck all the way around. The engine appears to be all original and still has it's original dished pistons.
So now I'm thinking that the pop up K400's may be a little to much cr with a zero deck. Question is should I be concerned with detonation running zero deck with this piston and a 906 head? Or did I just luck out big time?

,455/ 272* purple shaft or similar.
From the compression calculators I'm getting that a flat top would give me close to 10:1, which is a little more than I want but long as it doesn't rattle I'm OK with it.
