Waiting to hear back from this guy on a 4 speed that has already been rebuilt. Could anyone help ID it from this picture, like I said I am waiting to get the casting numbers from him before I go look at it. Thanks guys

Hi, Moparben here, I used to have a HEMI 4 speed as factory installed in my 69 GTX. The only thing I can tell you is if it is a HEMI trans it will be an 833 and have 18 splines on the input shaft. CALL Brewer's they should have something to tell you from the picture if anyone can.

It is a new process for B&E Bodied cars. The rattle can paint job is a red flag. I would check it over very carefully if it were me.

Thanks guys. I seen the paint and figured the same thing but I wanted to check to see if it would work for my application before I went to look at it. Needing a 4 speed for a 69 RR, from what I can tell from Brewers site is that it has a 70 and up B/E body tail shaft housing. I'll wait to hear from him and get the numbers.

Oh and Brewers is closed until the 15th while they are at Carlisle

Thanks for the help fellas

I would pull the side cover off and take a look inside but it'll fit the 69 car no problem.....and yeah, the paint job is a red flag however, I know a guy that's good at rebuilding stuff but really sucks on his paint jobs lol.

Try Jamie Passon for rebuilt 833's also.

Passon is the way to go ! I Rebuld these trannys and get my parts from him all the time. Great guy to deal with !!

23 spline B/E body application. Also look for a machined pad on the other side of the case. There should be a partial VIN on it and other smaller numbers with date codes. Keep in mind that new bearings, synchros and gaskets on junk gears doesn't mean rebuilt!

Well I spoke with him on the phone last night and he said he parts these cars out all the time and assures me that his friend did a full rebuild on the trans yet he has no clue as to where or why I want the numbers off of it. I also ask if I could pull the side plate on it an check the gears and he was very reluctant to say that I could. So as we suspected Im sure its a rattle can rebuild. What do you think its worth in a needs rebuilt stage?

Thanks for the help guys. I think I will save some cash and just go through Jamie to get a rebuilt trans, does anyone know if he accepts cores in exchange?

He will take cores in and also can just rebuld Your core. That is the best bang for your buck !

Sweet! Only problem is I have an older 64-65 trans and don't need it, probably try to sell it out right and find a core. Contacted him via his website and waiting to hear back on my next move.

He might take the 64-65 as a core and have a date correct one for you. I traded in a 69 core for a date correct 70. Your best bet is to call him. He's a really nice guy and will be happy to talk to you. Mention FBBO. :headbang:

If it comes down to it and you need a tranny, I have one that is originally out of a 69 RR sitting in my garage. It needs a rebuild and it is tore down at the moment, so I can get pics of anything. All the gears on it look good from what I see, it may need a new input shaft(I am not good with trannys, so not too sure), date code of 2623 (2 Oct 68), full VIN stamp with RM21H9E121538, tail shaft is dated 26 July 68. Just send me a PM if you are interested and we can try to work something out.

What trans do you need? I have two available that are fully rebuilt. Both 23 splines. One B body (front shift mount) and one A body. Good set of original gears and sliders, new bearings, small parts kit, thrust washers, seals, tailshaft bushing, synchros, etc... $900.00 ea.
