I have owned several big block 4-speed cars as well as 727 cars and had very few problems with the 833 4-speed or its surrounding components. Besides throwout bearings and clutch discs of course.
I think 4-speeds are more fun, unique, and give you more power to the ground when you want, and just as a bonus; get slightly better mileage.
It might just be me, but it almost breaks my heart to see a nicely optioned & tastefully done 440 sixpack 69 Bee or 70 RR/GTX and then see that the poor thing is a columnshift auto... OTOH, I have have found myself excited to see even a basic 383/440 car with no good options with a 4-speed.
Not that I necessarily have a problem with column shifted autos, I have them as well. But 4-speeds are king to me.
