400 BB MOPAR questions

Yes, but I'm just having fun on a budget. Maybe. I have 2 sets of headers I'll have to see, but I think they are 1 3/4

I have turned a 400 to 6500 on a regular basis with no crank issues. I also ran a cast crank with 6 pack rods and pistons up to 6500 rpms even hit 7000 a few times by accident when I had the tunnel ram on it. It pulled like it would go more but didn't want to risk it. Mopar cast cranks are really good.

I rev my .60 over 400 at 4800. It´s totaly dead above 5K even with a turbo and 12psi of boost on an all forged bottom end. Cool car you got!!

My brother ran a stock bottom end 400 before as it was the stock cast crank and reconditioned rods. He twisted it to over 6500 for a few years racing it as it was in his 3100 lb Duster and ran a best of 10.95. We have a 400 in my sons 72 Dart but we used a steel 383 crank and my son shifts it about 6500 and its still going strong. I will say my brothers 400 had stock pistons but he ran milled 915 heads at 10.5 comp. After 3 years racing it on the track it did have one of the stock pistons come apart but the cast crank held up fine. Ron

383man how much did he mill those heads to get that kind of compression ?
