My suspicion is that the web castings were an attempt to deal with NASCAR needs. IMHO cold weather has nothing to do with thick main bearing webs.

EDIT: They were cast for NASCAR !!!

I'd keep them both if it's not a bother. '71 block for sure a keeper for the Sebring. Good clean blocks are starting to dry up for the all out guys, but the street gangs still need decent blocks to make steam in the 700 HP and under arena.
