I have a 62 413 in a 63 Polara 500. Was told it was a truck block. Can't see the side casting numbers easily because of the headers. Noticed today on the front of the block there is AAQA cast into it with 2 letters or numbers below it. My question is did all truck blocks have this AAQA? Is the only sure way to ID a max wedge block the casting numbers on the side?

Thanks in advance for any guidance...

My truck block 413 does not have any numbers cast on the side, only on the rear where the oil sender is. I believe maxes have clearance cuts for the valves at the top of the cylinders.

What are the numbers on the engine pad?

NO HP on the pad? AAQA is a high nickel content block usually for HP engines.
No HP unfortunately. When I take things apart to put on the maxie crossram and manifolds I can check the block casting numbers to be sure. From what I know the guy was building a max wedge clone starting with a 413 heavy duty block. Most likely not a maxie block but wishful thinking can't hurt until I know the truth

I am no expert, but pretty sure T41 = 1963 413 (as mine is a S41 = 1962).

MW blocks have unique engine pad stamping and as said earlier, valve clearance notches at top of cyl bore.
