Ok, today lifted the motor off the cradle and put on an engine stand so I could tinker with the headers and modify the dipstick tube to accommodate the headers..... I think it came out pretty cool...

Then, after a day of other things, I tackled the routing of the dipstick tube. I will have to adjust it slightly from here for I was living in a 440-world and thought I had plenty of clearance. But, was Kori eluded, the battery tray is going to be rather close. So, it'll probably have to be adjust a little more vertical and maybe forward....... I started it off by using a stiff, yet flexible wire to be used as a template.

That's awesome, where did you get your paint for your motor?

Got the primer and paint at my local O'Reillys.. The paint does have good coverage, especially if you use the primer...... I like it.

You are going to have to bend the tube more vertical for battery clearance. Do it now before it goes into the car so you can work out the kinks. How does the stick insert right now; any tough spots?

Saturday:
rearranged the garage exchanging parking of my friend's Superbee and my Daytona. Here's where I start today. Front suspension is pretty much out if the way. I will remove the lower control arms and torsion bars, exhaust, then position the dolly under the kmember and tranny. I will get the cherry-picker so I can lift the front of the car high enough to slide the drivetrain out..

Sunday:
Whew !!!!! What a stressful operation out of one's garage. I was able, after a couple of trails and "well, that's not going to work" and a VERY slow-going mode of operation, to successfully remove the 440/727 drive train.. I was extra **** and slow about it all. I would assess a situation, come up with a solution, complete the task and clean up. I found keeping a clean and orderly workfloor made for a less chaotic event. There were a couple of times I wondered, "What the heck am I doing?" Shoot, one of the steps to remove the steering column, as easy as a task it is normally, turned out to be a big pain in the butt. Dang lock pin was NOT going to come out easily.... But, I prevailed.. One observation will be to get lower profile casters so the dolly won't be so high.... Now, time to replace fuel and brake lines, remove/replace brake booster ( hemi-version ) and etc.... I will separate the 727 soon and have it rebuilt. I am tired !!!! Church, lunch with the family, and 440 removal,, the end of a busy day.....

Pressing forward with more on the Daytona. Was disappointed that I couldn't mate the tranny due to the flex plate having the large attach holes to the converter instead of the large. So, I will have to get another flex plate. But, I did take the 426 Hemi and put it on the k-member and dolly. Also mocking up the fit of the steering gear box, looks good. Yes, I need to install the 90degree fitting on the gearbox, but will do that when I remove it to but the starter, then headers then gearbox again. Of course, this will be done when I get the tranny mated.

Also installed the hemi power brake booster assembly.

I went ahead and repositioned the dipstick based on feedback from others and my gut reaction that didn't pan out well with the corner of the battery tray possibly interferring with the dipstick.

I also rebuilt the calipers. I found a great place. Harmon Classic Brakes. They had all new seal kits along with brand new pistons. http://www.harmonclassicbrakes.com/

Ewwwwwww, it is amazing the brakes even worked.

looking at all your photos reading your text all I can say is ...... nice :headbang:

You better take a good look at those caliper bores. Rust is a real problem with those and it won't take much to cause a leak. Really bad design putting the seal surface on the caliper bore rather then the piston.

Update. Mated the tranny to the motor. Had an episode of "I hate headers". Of course, the original bends of the tranny lines don't work with headers. So, I massaged them and I believe all is good. I have to get another 90 degree power steering fitting. I got the smaller 66-68 fitting. I do believe the 69 and later are larger. Got the mini-starter as well... Everything seems to be going forward albeit slowly. But, that's OK. So far the TTI headers bend rather well.

Well, yesteday I tackled the front control arms. Installed the new PST upper bushing and cleaned things up. Love that bushing removal/installation tool. Cosmoline application of the lowers and they are ready for reinstall. The lower control arms have the PST polygraphite bushings as well. I will wait till the motor is in so there is less things in the way. I want to make the installation of the drivetrain as simple and unobstructed as possible. Looks good if I say so out of the garage with a rattle can from RestoRick.

I'm going back to the clutch 216 fan style initially. Yes, the fan's dusty and it's not a 070 clutch. ........ I'm losing it.....

That Superbee belongs to one of my best friends. Due to some life situations for him, I'm keeping it at my house for as long as he needs. I get to enjoy seeing a VERY nice car in my garage and have the keys anytime I wanna take her out. She's an all-original sheetmetal car, white interior, 383 console automatic with working a/c.... This was from last night when I pulled her out to 'dust' her off.....
