Hello, I need to buy or milling a torque plate for 426 Hemi (bore std, but until 4.4“ is fine).

Do anyone have drawing for torque plate? Then I can make order at milling-man for plate. Maybe CAD or other drawing. Or I can buy normal big block plate and then bore / milling to added bores?

Or anyone have for sale? I know one company sell plate, but expensive and add shipping to Germany is very expensive, more custom fee / tax etc.

Best regards
Willi

If you are asking to buy, you will need to start a Parts Wanted thread.

Could you make one off of a head gasket?

Google BHJ, they make torqueplates cheaper than you can make one unless you own a machine shop.

Problem is: torque plate is Shop to Germany needed. Plus custom fee / tax. Around 25% on top added. It will easy up around 1300-1500$ until here in Germany. That is why milling new one is cheaper than ship from USA.

I would use a head gasket for a pattern. It needs to be flat and the holes at a 90° angle to the surface. The bolt holes are a bit bigger than the head bolts so pinpoint accuracy there is not as much of an issue.

BHJ is the company that makes them. They are usually between $600 & $655 depending on application.
I made my own using my head gasket as a reference.

The torque plate duplicates the cylinder distortion from the bolts. You do not need a whole plate to do this satisfactorily. Buy a length of heavy wall D.O.M. tubing of the correct inner diameter and cut pieces to the same lengths as the head thickness. Machine both ends for squareness (can be done in a lathe.) Bolt these to the block with the head bolts/studs torqued to spec. Voila ... as good as a torque plate - a lot less money. Shipping a torque plate to Germany would be a killer !!

Don't anyone laugh, but isn't it possible to do this with a cut-up open-chamber head in certain engine families?? Not 100% sure if bbm would be one of them.

Thanks! Was going by memory, can't make it out to the shop to look at them.

That's what I did when I made one for the wedge engines....used the machines at work including the surface grinder and the 2 series Bridgeport.

At manufacturer ICT is not aviable (sold out). I will try contacted them.
