ok so i am parting out a 1956 33ft drake craft. it has in it 2 Chrysler Imperial 290s, or 426 wedge. I am not sure what they are worth? they ran when the boat was pulled out of the water. i havent pulled them out of the boat yet. they have heat exchangers and have allways had antifreeze in them no lake or salt water.

Was that boat repowered ?

I am not the owner of the boat my land lord is. he is the second owner, and said that the guy he bought it off of had the inline 6s pulled and these put in after he had it transported up here from cali.

290 horse. likely 413's.
pretty rusted out valve covers.
one should be a reverse rotation engine

The info will be on the plate that you can't find....including rotation.

ok engine model numbers off of bellhousing tag are as fallows
Right Side: M426BWR15-626
Left Side: M426BWL15-626

426 Marine Engines

One of these engines will have reverse rotation internals - crank, cam, distributor, etc, and will just be usefull for core block and head components if use in a car is intended.

ALSO - BE CAREFULL when considering marine engines for reuse in any application. I was a marine mechanic for 30 years, and have seen blocks corrode from the cooling passages to the cylinder bores. You may notice a tiny nick in a cylinder wall and have it bored out to remove the imperfection, only to have it increase in size, as the corrosion has thinned the cyliinder walls to the point of making the block worthless.

This happens more in salt water applications, but I have seen it in fresh water boats as well as salt water. Best way to avoid wasting money is to have the block sonic tested before spending money on it.

The R is right hand rotation and the L is left hand. The 15 is the reverse gear ratio, 15 meaning 1.5:1 (10 would be 1.1:1 or direct drive) and the 626 is the engine specification number. Being that they were matching engines the numbers are the same...626. They are 290 hp 426 engines and as stated above one will only be good for a core due to reverse rotation with most of the internals needing replaced. Being that they were run on a closed loop cooling system and not an open system using fresh water or salt water through a strainer for cooling you may not have the problem with internal corrosion. If you haven't already done so take time to look at the link I posted above, it will tell you more about the internals such as the tin plated pistons and other special items connected with a marine engine.

M-318= 318
M-383= 383
M-413= 413
M-426= 426

His model number is M426B = 426/290 hp. This is marine engine for a large cruiser. The highest hp available was a M426ski which put out 415 hp with 11.1 compression.
