I just got a 440 block, FREE, from a buddy and just measuring the bores, they are coming in at 4.364-7. The block is rusty, surface type rust not the really bad stuff. I'm gonna stuff this in my 64' CSS D200, but here's my questions......

1. If needed, sleeves will be done, so should I go back to stock bore size?
2. If it will clean up at .060 over, will it be fine for a torque monster that will be used as a truck, ie, get mulch from the nursery, go to the dump, etc?
3. I want to use a roller cam and lifters, what/who should I look at?

Remember, this will just a "grocery" type truck, that can pull the store home, if needed, lol! Also, this gonna be efi, for drivability reasons.

Sounds like you intend to build something that will get you to the dump real quick. There's nothing wrong with a sleeved block, if done correctly, but eight sleeves will probably cost more than another block. JMO

Sonic test it to see if .060 will work ok. It's 80 bucks to do it here locally and worth the price before spending a ton of money only to find out it has terrible core shift....

X2 Cranky. If bad core shift then use that block as a coffee table.

last time I checked sleeves at my local machine shop were $100/hole, the very reason I've got a '69 440 hp block sitting in a corner all by it's lonesome

Damn, if it's that expensive, I gonna pray that it can be bored .060 and not have any problems.
