I have a 70 RR with a 440 (stock bottom, 509 cam, 915 heads) and it recently started blowing a lot of oil out of the even side tailpipe. I ran it for 2 minutes, now I have to wash the wife's van that was parked behind it. Did I break a ring or is it a valve seal or something? I probably won't do anything until next spring, but it would be nice to have an idea where to start. thanks.

pull plugs, check compression. rule the big stuff out. my guess - ring related. i have never heard of that much oil blowing from a bad valve seal.

ok, I'll pull the plugs and check compression, but this might be a great excuse for the stroker kit.

thats the way to think; take a negative and make it a positive:headbang:

I doubt its ring related. Remember, you have two oil scraper rings and an oil control ring in between that handles oil control. Also remember that the only oil coming in contact with the cyl walls is done so by oil slinging from the crank....
Oil burning engines are "typicaly" high mileage vehicles, and they produce a nice blue plume of exhaust, and usualy caused by a combination of worn out components.
I would guess that you have a sucking of oil into the cyl. Now with that said, you would have to think about where that much oil resides in relationship to the any areas that oil can enter the cyl.... I too think you have a potential intake leak,,,,,,
Good luck!

Edit: Unless you have recently severly overheated the engine, in which case it could be a cracked head sucking oil down from the valve guide / spring pocket area. Also if the heads are un-touched and have worn valve guides, the valve seals wont last long and you would have oil consumption.
