I have a distributor that is supposedly correct for a '70 440/6 engine with a four speed transmission. Who can rebuild this to factory specs and restore the correct factory markings, tags, etc.

Also, there is no number of any sort on this distrubutor. Is this indeed the correct distributor for a '70 440/6 with a four speed transmission?

I've included some photos.

Well it has the proper solenoid retard, but where are the breaker points and condenser? What is that red box inside the housing with the wires?

Someone tried to convert this to electronic ignition, the red box is the inductive pickup.

I'd like for the rebuilder to install the correct dual points as part of the rebuild.

Thank you, Pops1967GTX.

I failed to mention that my car is a four speed, I went back and corrected the original post.

Looks like the Prestolite has the cast iron body, whereas mine has an aluminum body. If mine is not correct for a '70 440/6 four-speed, what car and engine IS it correct for?

440-6 4 spd should have Prestolite IBS 4017DS,pt.#3438314.,the one on the left unless it is late 70 or 71.

I assume there is no tag,is there a part number on the housing ?

MoparHonda, yours looks like the Chrysler made distributor shown in the 1970 shop manual for 383 and 440 4bbl engines.

Thank you 62Max and Photon440, I'll advertise the one I have on e-bay as a 383/440 distributor and try to find the correct distributor for my car.

Or ask Max to build you one. He also has cores possibly....62max is the best in rebuilding these and the carbs!

He has done both for me!
