I just dropped in a 440 to replace the 318 in my 66 Coronet and I need to know how the harness routes on the passenger side. The harness is a new m&h with electronic ignition and it won't route down the passenger side as the original did. From the pics I've found it lays beside the right head. Is this the correct spot? Does it need additional protection from heat? Any input and pics would be greatly appreciated.

lays between the head and intake on the right side. i've never had heat issues with either of mine.

only thing the heat will do is make the wires brittle after a while.many factory valve covers had loom supports built into them on the intake side to hold the harness.cant hurt to put some good loom cover over the harness.

I got the same hardness in my 67. 383. I didn't use any other loom or wire covering and it been 4 years with no issues. It would be different if we used our cars as daily drivers for years and years like they were meant to be used. You shouldn't ave any problems.
