I just bought one of these from Dave Hughes. He said they have them specially made for them with both tips hardened so they don't do what your old one did. Check it out.
And inferior oils are pretty much anything that's engineered for the new factory roller cams setup....oils with very low ZDDP additive. The newer engines also use electric fuel pumps so for the most part, there are no more high wear items that slide like non roller lifters etc. Best bet is to use a racing formulated oil or use an additive.
