Hi Got a quote for building a 440 with cross ram Max Wedge complete, drop in, Everthing is new from carbs to pan, fan to flywheel. $ 20,000. Your thoughts? This is in Canadian dollars
Thanks in advance

For $8100 USD I have a bought a complete 522 Stroker 525hp/660torq from CME so I'm in agreement that's way high

CME , where are they located, and that's not exactly what I,m proposed to get, or am I wrong. Hyrdgoon. I'm near Barrie

67, Add the cross ram etc in that add you showed me, and you got $20,000 plus, Iknow it is a Hemi but not what I what, Still looking at z440 bottom end

any particular reason the engine has to be a cross ram wedge?

Looks, Putting it into 65 Satellite , making SS out of it

It could be worth it and it might not. What type of quality goes between the carburetors and oil pan, fan and flywheel? I could build an aluminum headed cross ram 440 and sell it for $9,000 to $25,000. And they both would look exactly the same on the outside.

Well I know that it's getting the best of stuff , So this is the direction I want to go 440 etc, Any suggestions on who you guys have used, much appreciated, There a lot that I could do if I was in USA , unforgetaly up here in Canada, we have to pay all these taxes, brokage fees, etc. And all the parts come from the states even if it's gets built up here, Kinda sucks, Went to Carlise last year should of got one of Indy while I was there

hope this is the right picture. ok got the right picture. reason i asked is you could build a nice street 440 with inline carbs for 8 or 9 thousand. also i think the inline manifold flows more air.

That's looks good, I like the looks of the offset carbs though as far as the nostalgic look goes, Now you got me wondering

just my opinion here; the factory never made a cross ram wedge in '65 but you could get an inline dual quad over the counter. the edelbrock package is probably less than 50% of the cost of the cross ram. either way please yourself and not the crowd.

If you want a Max Wedge, then only one thing will do - a Max Wedge.

$18K US is alot of coin, but as IQ52 said, whether it represents value all depends on the quality of the shopping list. If that was an absolutely complete MW clone (ie crossram, carbs, linkages, lines, air cleaners, MW exhaust manifolds etc), just the MW components constitutes around $5k of the build.

Edit - If you havent seen it already, have a look at member ilm65's 65 Satellite Max Wedge "I wish Ma built one of these" car. It's gorgeous -

Ya, that's one nice car, saved those pics, like he said 65 showed have had one of these

Essentially,
The question "300" posted is:
"Everthing is new from carbs to pan, fan to flywheel. $ 20,000. Your thoughts? This is in Canadian dollars"

My opinion is:
Very expensive! Period.

300, there is always people who will take your money.
You will be paying WAY too much!

If it's the "look" your going for, you'll be better off purchasing something else "like the first crate engine I linked to" and purchase the intake you want, along with the other small parts... You'll save a TON of money!
One other question about the engine you're thinking about.... Does this thing come with actual 426 MW heads, or some other variant?

Comes with Edelbrock Aluminum Heads,
OK. Let's put the cost aside for a minute( I deal with that after this question)
If it was your car, Using a 440 Block, What would you like to see in it
a, the Max wedge intake cross ram
b, the inline dual Quads

I'm going to take 6 opinions, and go with the average
Then I will look into maybe the Crate on hearand add the top end components
I Thank you all for your expertise

Had mine built by Chuck Millen @ Best Machine in Michigan--including 440 cross-ram and all linkage from A&A transmission in Indiana plus two 600 cfm Edelbrocks, $11,000. Runs beautifully, behaves in traffic, and will pin you to the seat. Bonus: Love the "WOW FACTOR" when I open the hood.
