It is called compromise. Some might be good, but more might not be better. Rod length like so many things in the engie are a compromise. You won't see a short rod [ low r/s ratio ] in an F1 engine that does 12,000 rpm because a long rod provides more inertia ramming at high rpms & less friction.

The same for highly developed motorcycle engines as well, usually greater than a 2:1 ratio.
