I am putting together a mopar performance 440. I am putting the plugs in the oil galleys and had a question. Do you know what the whole below the fuel pump is for? Also does the whole inside of it get plugged. I have attached a picture. Thanks for the help.

I believe it is to gain access to the fuel pump actuating rod that rides on the camshaft.

Yep, that's how you get the fuel pump rod in and out. You just plug it off once your rod is in.

Oh okay. If I am using an external fuel pump should I plug off where the rod sits internally as well?

Thanks for all the help guys. This is my first 440. 500 cubes, Indy sr heads, mopar performance single plane, 640 lift cam, jesel belt drive and a race demon 1050cfm. Any hp guesses?

Wow nice set up. Heads ported? What's the compression? I'd guess around 650+hp base off the info maybe 600+ if heads are un touched.

The compression should be about 11.5:1. Heads are not ported. I am thinking about sending them out to have them done. Not sure if I should send them back to indy or just have them locally done.

Would be a good idea always good to let these motors breath more. Jim aka IQ52 does porting he's a member on here. Indy will cnc port them or even cncport.com can do them. Cncport did a set of my mw victors for me, awesome work, but have also hread great things about Jim on here on his work.
