440 rods on a 383?

The 440 rod is .400" longer than the 383 rod and you will not be able to make it work without custom pistons - if it will even work at all. Why would you want to do that? 383 rods should be easy enough to find, plus the 383 already has a very high rod/stroke ratio.

YES! You can use 440 rods in a 383. Aftermarket 440 rods are inexpensive and numerous plus it makes for a stronger combination and allows for a lighter piston.

aftermarket 383 rods are relatively expensive, and beyond Eagle I am not aware of any shelf available 383 rods.

Diamond has a shelf piston for this application.

It's a rod ratio thing....works well. I'll be doing a 400 with stock stroke and 440 rods later this year.
