hey guys, I picked up a 440 source 121-1003 center sump 7-quart oil pan today at the spring fling. I was curious if any of you guys are using this pan. My car is a 65 belvedere with the original k-frame and a 440 using the Schumacher mounts(originally a 318 poly car). I'm building a stronger 440 now and was wondering if this pan would work. 440 source site says 66 and up cars but I'm not opposed to notching the k member if necessary. Just need a good pan with added capacity. Thanks everyone.

There's a couple of threads on here pertaining to pans. This link is about a 1001 that I bought and shows where I had to notch for the added clearance.

There's a couple of good links throughout the thread.

The 1003 looks already rounded for the K frame. You might be good. The other thing that sometimes interferes is the center link.

Hopefully someone who has used this very pan in their '65 will chime in.

Exactly the pan, I bought. I have a 971 pan in my car now and the center link is about 1/2" off the pan. Looks like it will fit except for the center link. Anyone have this pan on a 65?

Not sure about the 440 Source pan, but my '65 stock K frame needed to be notched for the deepend 402 pan.

Then you can compare the height of your pan to the one you just bought, in that area. As a matter of fact you could transfer all of the measurements that would be an issue.

Here's some examples

Thanks khryslerkid. Useful diagrams for sure. I also just found this thread about early b oil pans. http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/oil-pan-for-63-b-body.126403/
Lots of members have used the 440 source pan with a stock k-member. Just have to notch a bit.
Looks like I'll be fine as long as I can get the centerlink off the pan a bit as the 440 source pan is a little taller behind the sump. The pitman arm is hitting the headers on my car already, so I need to adjust that anyway. Thanks for chiming in guys. This site is a tremendous source of info.

Also, I just read that the drag link can be installed backwards and have a difference if 1/2" clearance from the pan????

Here's the 440 Source (Part #121-1003) 7" deep 7 quart pan installed on the 440 that's now in my '64 Polara. Just required a minor trim to the cross-member. Definitely worth it if you want or need the extra capacity.

I have one on my 63 fury it worked just fine

I use the 440 source pan as well. It's a good pan. Mock up and measure depth of the pickup real good. Mine needed a little tweaking.
