If you live anywhere near the Barona dragstrip and you have a Mopar (or anything else) built before 1975 that moves under it's own power, you should come on out to Barona this Sunday to race. You'll get tons of runs in and it's all just grudge racing for fun all day long. The track motto is "If you can drive it, you can race it", so no excuses, it doesn't matter if it runs the 1/8 mile in 5 seconds or 15 seconds. The weather is supposed to cool down for Sunday too.

I had a great time. I got in six runs, not as many as usual but my wife and kids came out to watch and I was spending time with them and there was also an oil down and pretty lengthy clean up.

The high was 85 and the DA was almost 3800' but I ran the same times as I usually do in 60 degree weather, 1700' DA weather and about a tenth faster than I usually do in the heat. So I think my little tuning tweaks helped. The car ran better than it ever has so adjusting the float level and disconnecting the vacuum advance helped. I don't know why I didn't disconnect the vacuum advance when racing sooner. Maybe it's just a band-aid but the car was much happier.

Loads of Mopars showed up and I had a great time talking with old friends from the track and making some new ones. Lots of people seemed to want to talk to me about my car, it seems people can relate to the beaters like mine.
