1979 Chrysler 300 Race car

Got it on the ground by end of day. Ran into a problem with the front wheels not being able to make full contact. Luckily had a spare set from a previous bad decision race car that will bolt up. Makes it a mix/match on front and back, but it's safe and it works. Added benefit of being 7lbs lighter. The overall front brake setup is 23lbs lighter per side, giving us 60lbs off the front. Got brake lines made and now it's time to break in the new rear end. Nephews will drive it from my Dads to my house which is a couple of miles. It has mufflers and I tagged and insured it this week :D. We had more we wanted to get done this week, but just ran out of time. Dad will be gone all next week, may rewire it then. Tying the frame will have to wait at least another week. For now, it's off the Rockingham this weekend for Mopar day to shake it out. At some point I need to get in the car, but my real life is in the way currently. Have a big antique firearm auction this weekend I have to run. Getting closer to my racing debut!

Some button up work yesterday. Getting front end aligned and working properly. This era of Chrysler engineering, not their best work, but finally got it aligned right. Setting up the CalTracs with the new Dana. Today it will be driven over to my house to break everything in and race on Saturday. Hopefully it goes well this weekend and we'll make some more upgrades next week!

What happened to Moby? We picked up .2! Sorry for delay in posting, had our Sportsman Auction this weekend and I'm playing catch up. We had limited runs on Saturday, but we did get some good data. We're going to confirm with our at home scales, but believe we've lightened the car around 70 total pounds. Between the weight and the gear change, going from 4.10 to 4.56, we picked up .2 and a little over 1mph. We'll get an official breakdown later this week. I'm hoping to get testing in on Thursday as it's the only day I have available on my schedule before the Thanksgiving race! Overall, very pleased with this result. More details to come, thanks to everyone that was asking!

Today is the day I finally make a run in the car. Rented the track to do some testing. The high today, 45 degrees! Not a warm day that's for sure. Just looking to find a spot in the tree where I can be consistent. Ready to knock 20 years of rust off.

The videos on Facebook looked like the car leaves really well.
Good luck!

Neat car. I always liked those 300's other than the wheels. Get tired of Duster race cars (although much better than Camaros).

After all of this work, the race is canceled lol. It's going to be below freezing and I understand the call the promoters needed to make. A bit frustrating as I was looking forward to 2-3 days of just disconnecting and enjoying some racing. That means Moby will go in for major end of week. Stay tuned, a lot more updates are coming!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I go out of town for 2 days and come back to a few surprises. Car being tied together this week. What he does at 81 is nothing short of a miracle.

No excuses, that's why he was a winner. That work will be first class.

This will be the most rigid 79 Chrysler 300 on the planet thanks to Dad. Can't leave him alone with tubing and a welder. Video coming later in the week recapping all the things he's been doing.

That’s so cool that he’s still getting after it.
Inspiring is an understatement!
