4th generation muscle.....

its starting to come together.the 360 sounds awesome and suprisingly ,this car does not feel as heavy as you might think. i spent so many hours sanding, and sanding and priming and sanding.i hate sanding lol. getting any good straight rust free body panels is next to impossible for these cars. i have scoured the country trying to find a good deck lid. i went through THREE lids and pieced together two of them before i finally found one my soon to be doba buddy had out at his "farm" my original was punched in the center by the trunk lock.if you have ever seen one up close, there are no less than 5 body lines that meet or run next to each other and when they are bent, its almost impossible to fix. so i took my old lid ,cut out the center, took a rusty donar lid ,cut the center out of it and grafted it into my old lid. it looked pretty good, but i found a good one and replaced it. but heres the work..

now we are getting close to color. and heres where you live and learn. i know from reading that a metallic has to be shot with all body panels in place for a consistant color and coverage. i had never shot a metallic and i was determined to do it no matter the outcome. the single stage acrylic enamel paint was a good choice for me as i am not putting together a show car .only a nice driver that will look good cruising around.it wont see rain or snow but i will drive the thing and it will see sun and heat. when i ordered the paint i only bought a gallon. after the door jams n such ,i knew i wouldnt have enough to cover the body. i had to order another gallon. big mistake not getting 2 gallons and mixing them together.the first gallon was more of a teal compared to the second gallon which was more blue. i didnt find this out until after i shot the body and when the masking was pulled, the contrast in color where the fenders meet the engine bay was noticeable.the jams and hood striker looked ok because they are not right next to each other. but oh well,no big deal, only some would notice. here it is after 1 light coat,15 minutes of flash time, then another good coat. far from perfect, no runs, no patching, some orange peel and a few small chunks, but like they say,it'll buff out !!!

the front fenders matched perfectly. the problem was that i didnt have the space to get around the car in the garage and paint them,so i had to do it them seperatly, but i got lucky and you cant even tell. i cant say enough about the color ,it is awesome in the sun.

great job, i like the attitude. i too have always wanted to muscle up one of those later body styles.

heres the hood. i went with an A body hood scoop because it lends itself well to the body lines on the hood of the charger very well IMO..the color looks different in the lighting ,in the garage, but again, i got lucky and it looks like it was painted with the rest of the car at the same time...i wanted a blacked out hood patch like the earlier charger R/Ts and i decided to deviate a little and leave the body line body color up to the scoop. no chevy stripe thought went into this !

i kind of got off track from when i started. i was shooting for a street machine look. half of the reason i love mopars is for the spoilers, stripe treatments, scoops and badging and equipment. there is nothing like the beauty of a 1971 charger R/T with every appearance option available. so i found myself wanting to see how it would look if there had been an R/T package available on the 77 charger SE. no there were never any built. i would never try to pass one off as such, but my imagination can get the best of me at times. so my focus changed directions to a hot rodded out , wanna be 77 charger R/T SE clone of sorts.being that it will get a 440, i went ahead and spent close to 400 bucks on three 71 charger script fender badges, 2 fender R/T badges, and one R/T for the deck lid, and 2 440magnum badges for the scoop.call it what you want ,but i thought it worked very nicely.again the pics are not great but you get the idea.i also added a rear butt stripe and a 70 rear wing for the cause.

do you mean like the richard petty style magnum nascar roundy round car with a charger? that would be awesome. these body styles, for some are hard on the eyes, but thats what i like about them. not many people take a chance and throw money at them, but i have no regrets. this thing turns heads everywhere i go . 99% of people that comment think it is a cordoba, or a monte carlo !
