5.7 Hemi

Run 0-30 Amsoil and the 5.7’s will be happy. For a long time. Recommended 5-20 is too thin.
MDS, no problem.

I’ve always stayed away from oil additives in newer vehicles , I think good oil has all the good stuff you need.

How many miles on yours ?
100K miles, 2013 was a daily driver. I recently installed a whipple supercharger.

My 09 R/T 5.7 Challenger has 170,000 on it. I put gas in it and change the oil (5w30 synthetic). I have the MDS disabled.

My 06 Magnum R/T was on its second engine before it made it to 100K. Had a marshal reman in it when I bought it at 115K. I think they forgot to put in the back cam bearing, there was no evidence of a cam bearing in it when I took it apart later at 178k when it had multiple issues. The second to the back cam bearing was toast (photo). It ate the cam and lost a rod bearing at 178K. On a cold day -28* day the oil filter collapsed on it too about 8 months later the rod bearing went south. Not sure any of it was the actually engines fault, but the 09 and later Eagle 5.7 seems like a lot better engine.

My 05 300C has just over 90K miles on the clock. I run the 5W-20 Mobil One the factory recommends and change it every 5000 miles. Never heard a tick from it but I never idle it for more than a few minutes. Other than brake pads and rotors & and the Nag1 valve body replacement that I replaced myself, this car has been flawless for 21 years. The only shop it has seen other than mine is the tire dealer for a new set of rubber. I attribute the success to proper maintenance since it does get abused from time to time.

I'm close to 200k miles on my 2005 Dodge Magnum RT AWD. Just past 310k km.

EDIT: I should update my post to include:

-MSD disabled;

-Too hot OEM 205* t-stat replaced with 180* t-stat and fan cooling mod with DiabloSport InTune i3;

-I've only used the recommended 5W20 oil, always synthetic;

-My car is a DD living out in the wild; it doesn't get heated garage love. I plug in the block heater for when it's below -15* Celsius, and don't bother driving it if it's below -25*C, I'll just work from home.

Knock on wood, I've read about the dropped valve seat nightmare but I also read the t-stat change is likely the best way to avoid that.

wish I'd known that early like 10 yrs. ago! probably right, wife stopped for fuel and when she fired it up it started smoking bad and she drove it to my sons and then he who should have known better took it for a ride to see what was going on! when i tore the head off, one head and piston is toast and slight score in the cylinder, if it wasn't awd i would have had it fixed in a week, but the oilpan/axle deal means a complete front end tear out and what do i do with the car while i build the motor, my son only has one hoist and its busy all the time! been sitting so long now i figure there's going to be a lot more wrong with it, my bad!
