69 charger. I’m wondering if the 5 clips can be installed on the dash itself, and then install the bolts from underneath the dash so I won’t have to remove windshield for future dash work? I think this would work any thoughts?

That would make too much sense !!
Keep in mind how things go together on an assembly line ... it would have taken extra time for someone to crawl into the car and reach under an already completely assembled dash - with heater or a/c and pedals already in place. And then there's the question of the screws protruding upwards - will they hit the glass??
I had a thought to get a second dash and cut it along a line under the pad and install that piece. Cut the actual dash so they overlap and fasten them together then cover the joint with the dash pad. But I couldn't find a donor at a reasonable price.

I’m looking into this and will definitely post any results I learn. This window rubber gasket is quite the design. No wonder these cars all have rust in the corners. I’m glad mine hasn’t been rusted out and won’t be in the future
Don't think it'll work out. Even if the dash could slide under.. there'll probably be a gross gap between it and the WS gasket

I think it would work as long as the bolts aren't too long. That it might hit the glass.

So….. Today I had a professional glass installer help me install the new windshield with new gasket of course. I decided to reverse the 5 factory clips to the dash instead of the cowl. You just flip them upside down. Then the dash still lays on top the cowl just like it does originally so nothing really changes. I did take a cutoff wheel to the extra threads past the end of the clips and there seems to be enough clearance so the glass will not contact. Probably at least 1/4 inch gap. Then as the butyl sealant was added, we just made sure it stayed off the dash so now in the future I can remove the dash to finish all the work it will need.

Last seen was June of 23 so don't hold your breath.....
I love the idea BUT ... how accessible are all the bolts - you've got a fresh air duct on the left, all the pedal mechanisms and the heater assembly from the middle all the way to the right. How easily can you get to those bolts ??
Word has it that he got wedged underneath the dash and couldn't get out. His body was discovered weeks later.

That windshield will look great once he replaces the body of that Charger.
It does seem a bit early in the project for a new windshield....
Maybe he's just going to clean it up and run it with the patina. God knows body and paint costs as much as a house these days !!
