What are you calling Corporate red? 331? PP1 or ????

I reference the PPG color chart, 33-1 for Corporate Red. I also checked Express paint and they call the 33-1 Corporate Red.

I don't know that statement is a fact. If you are referring to one of my posts, my intent is that factories like Hamtramck or St. Louis, two plants that made Chargers, would have the paint on hand as a matter of necessity.

A plant like Lynch Road would not necessarily have to have the color on site but certainly may have the color instock in order to meet requests for special paint request. We wouldn't know if LR painted a car 33-1 because any 33-1 cars from Lynch Road would likely code 999 paint.

It might make more sense to use the context Chrysler used in '68 and '69. Most Mopar people would be more familiar with the colors being called 33-1 Bright Red/Charger Red in '68 as well as R4 in 69. I don't think a lot of folks would be familiar with Corporate Red as a common term or concept of color.

Very interesting thread. Sunlight sure makes a difference though. I’ve got a shady pic right after only repaint and then same year (2024) in sunlight. PP-1 mixed up in Akron.(have owned since new)

So it’s getting close to “pick the color” time on my 68 Super Bee restoration……. I think I’m gonna go back with the original color of Red. No fender tag on this car, so the only true indicators of the original paint are in places like the door jams and windshield channels. It appears that this car was NOT PP-1 Red. It is Much lighter / brighter than the PP1 red, which is a dark red. This is like the #33-1 Bright Red / Charger Red or Corporate Red (which all look the same to me). Windshield channels and door jams don’t lie…..been out of the sun and weather since new. My question is……was this color available for the Coronet / Super Bee in 68? The car is on the SB register, it’s a true Bee. I just have never seen this color on any other 68 Super Bee’s…….I have seen a few in the PP1 Red and that is wayyy darker than what I have. Appreciate anyone sharing their insight……

This is PP1 red. It was called bright red in 1967.

Anyone else see the black just barely poking through in the first photo or is it just me? Kind of looks like it was black originally and someone did a really good repaint back in the day. That's how mine is, originally black and someone did a really good job back in the day and painted it metallic silver.

If you don't mind sanding I would try sanding the inside edges of the door and see what you find.
