Just got what I think is a great deal on a 572 Crate motor from Chrysler. The motor is going in my 64 Savoy. So the 572 comes with a single four barrel manifold. Not going to do... so I am looking at either a cross ram from mopar or the "Holly" inline dual quad set up from the mopar performance book. Like the looks of the crossram but wonder about the street driveability (mileage does NOT matter). If one went with the crossram vs the in line dual fours what horsepower advantage if any could you expect? Realistically how much HP and torque will either dual quad set up give as compared to the single four barrel? Thanks in advance for your information and replies. Spook

Spook, you can only run a cross ram, nothing else fits a 64 Hemi car!!! Having said that the cross ram does look much better, I'm running an original one, I owned a MOPAR one withthe bolt on tops but never ran it, story is it will make another 100 or so over the old ones! But lots of engine lots of torque who needs another 100. I run a big duration cam and the original Holleys and it drives just fine, fuel milage SUCKS but its fun and looks correct, you can still find them on Ebay from time to time, or A & A trans does a reproduction. Be careful on the originals as they used to deck the blocks a lot I hav3 been told and the mainfolds had to be machined to fit and probably won't work on a stock deck height engine. Hang in there for the real cross ram look. Oh on the new ones, as I said I never ran it, but heard that they tend to puddle fuel - not a good thing with all that volume in the manifold, could be a big bang. When I get a sec I'll send you some pics. Not sure how to post on here but maybe this weekend I can figure it out. Oh what are headers you are going to use? John

Cross Ram on Hemi

They look great, the early magnesium used ot crack alot. Vacuum leaks galore. Do yourself a favor. if you want the look of the cross ram get your self a duel throttle body efi and have a great time. The carbs are a pain. The in line manifold does not look as good. It runs a little better but not much. The 750 cfm Holley are to much. Id use a pair of 570 Holly eco2 carbs.

I will be running 2 1/4 inch TTI headers and exhaust. So the crossram manifold I can currently buy at my local mopar parts department (listed in their performance catalog) will work ok? Not interested in fuel injection, but thanks for the suggestion. Most likely would likely would like to stick to holly or edlebrock carbs. Thanks for the replies. Spook

Spook,
The new Mopar cross ram is about 1" taller than the original one, get a good picture of an original one and the Mopar one before you make the decision. You going to be in St Paul at the Car Craft show? I will be working the Painless booth at this show.

Might make it up there, will be leaving for out west on my Harley for a week, not sure when I will get back. Thanks for the information. Spook
