I have read that using a /6 904 truck converter behind a 318 w/904 will give about an 1800 stall. My question is has anyone done this and what were your results?
I have access to a couple and wasn't sure if it was worth the swap.

Chances are it will do exactly what you want but may not be very efficient, meaning the difference between the engine RPM vs. the drive shaft RPM (1:1 high gear ratio) will be more than ideal. I've known a few people that ran Pinto converters behind their small block Fords with decent results and I ran a 318 converter behind my 383 and I got about 1800 stall out of that. I say try it and see what happens.

Isn't 1800 about normal for most stock converters anyways?

I thought it was less but what do I know! I spent most of my seat time with three pedals and a Hurst stick in my hand!!

I spent a lot of time with 3 pedals too but also have had more than I wanted with automatics lol
