Sorry to do this.. but did search and i see people running all different stuff and i don't want to order the wrong things..
I need to get front rims/tires for my 62, rears are wheel vintique stamp steels.. i was gonna go TT or slots on the front but think i am just gonna go black stamped also. 15x6 with 3.75" backspace, that backspace is ok? Was hoping for 15x5 and a slightly skinny tire but 15x6 is as small as they make.

As for tires.. on a '62 plymouth what can i fit without worrying bout hitting the fender/valence? Would like to find something with a squarish profile if possible.. no BF radial..

P.S. if anyone has something laying around for a good price in the detroit area i'm up for that also Killing me what they get for steelies when we used to literally throw them away
:)

I was looking at the American Racing TT for the fronts and I'm not sure of the back spacing they offer, if they will be okay or not. Several on here are running them on their '62s but I haven't seen any measurements of what they are using.

Currently I'm running 7 x 15" x 4.25 b.s steel for the front, 225/70/15 Cooper without any rubbing on the fender.

yeah.. TT's are much cheaper also :) A buddy is giving me crap for not putting steels on the front if i go with tts.. meh..

BUT... this does look awesome, i can't get my rear that low though

My old hoopte. TT 15x5 215/75/15. Inexpensive Ironman tires made by Cooper.
I have bee running Ironman on all my vehicles for about 10 years now and get good service.

Thanks, I have Eaton Detroit Springs on the rear.100lbs overstock with a 2'' drop.
Kinda wanted a gasser look without a straight front axle.
Had the Torsion bars cranked way up but didn't like the way it drove. Compromise.

Yeah, i wish i had moved my springs in 1" more and gotten 5.5" backspace rims... but i'm not blowing another $400 on a pair of rims to do that now..

It's all a learning thing... if i ever did another car (which i won't) it would go soo much easier now :)

You can't go by what I get away with, cause a previous owner trimmed about two inches of front valence away, for tire clearance.
I've got 15x6 stock Mopar steelies, with 235-60x15s, and also some tt2's 15x7with 235-75x15. They are TALL, and I doubt they would work with stock sheet metal
The 15x6 are at least 4" bs (I think! 4 1/4) and if I remember right the 15x7 are 4 or 4 1/4bs too.

Yeah, i don't wanna cut up any metal if i don't have to.. was thinking 225/70/15ish... BTW 33, you are running the 30" et streets also aren't you? (might be wrong person, my brain is ****) and you look bout the same height as mine.. do the outer wheel wells (the part inside the outer skin that follows the body curve from the wheel well lip) ever rub? or how close are you? I THINK i am gonna get away with mine.. with maybe a rub if i go over something that makes the whole car squat bad..

I've got 10.5-28x15s on the centerlines, (4 7/8 bs, need .300 spacers) and 10-28x16 on the tt2's with 4.3/4 bs .Both full-on slicks. The 10s fit well, the 10.5s are pretty tight. The car is as high as it is (ss springs) to keep the fender off the outside sidewall. I don't have any rubbing problem on the inner fenderwell. The t/as are on ramcharger 15x8s, with 255x70. I wanted 275, but the ramcharger rims didn't have enough backspace.
My next pair of rear tires, if live long enough to wear out the hoosiers will be 9x29 or 30, i think. I do have some new et street bias for my barracuda, and some giant Hoosier qtp for my Opel.
Your 225x70s would be a good choice, imo . Would work on 6s or 7s, not too tall, not to short.

And that is some badass-sittin 65!

Ahh.. yeah.. i could only fit 4.5" BS and went 30" so it's a bit tight.. maybe 1.5-2" before i would get rub... but nothing sharp would hit.. still not ideal.

Clearance on the Dodge with the 225/70/15 4.25 BS

The rears are 275/60/15 on 8"w 4 1/2" BS. Had to use a 1/4" spacer for inner spring clearance. Should have used a 4.25 BS. No rubbing.

thanks, and those fronts are way more forward than i thought they would be..might wait til my fenders are on to decide.. that's a 62? your rears are in about the same spot as mine and that inner i think is gonna hit (inner on the outisde if that makes sense) is gonna rub.. my tires are fatasses though

Yes on being a '62. The rear 8" rims had plenty of room until I had the tires mounted. They really bulge. There's a chart online somewhere that shows how wide a tires sidewall is when mounted on a certain width rim.

I still haven't figured out what everyone is using for BS on the front using the TT wheels. What's offered on line isn't 4.25. It's either more or less.

yeah.. i don't get how you measure front BS due to turning and all that.. my section width is 12.5" on my tires.. tread 10.5, using 4.5BS with the springs moved in like 3/8"

Well I'm using 15" x 7x 4.25 BS and the upper ball joint is about 3/16" from the rim. So I wouldn't go any less BS than that. Everything else clears fine with the 225/70s.

thanks, good info :) And i kinda wish i had gone 9" wide in the back but i wanted the 30" diameter... and didn't want truck tires. no biggy though.. looks good :)
