I am going to look at a '62 Savoy that was originally a 413 now a /6. I need to know what possible K member issues to look for? Are 62-65 B Body the same as the 63-66 A Body, the same K member fits /6's and V8s? What other B Body rear will fit the the'62 body, flange to flange/spring pad to spring pad? If it has the old style flanged rear, I will want to change it over to '66 and newer.. Thanks

Originally a 413 now a /6...you don't hear that around here too much!!

that is for certain..not the normal way of doing things for sure...that fender tag would be an interesting read...

K-frames are different between B-bodies and A-bodies. The B-body K's are also different between /6 and v-8.

Pretty much any 66-70 rear will bolt in and work fine. Some are just a little wider. I have a Charger rear in my '63 and works great. You can't, however, use the later springs as they are longer.

Actually your housing will work with aftermarket axles and green style bearings. The difference is that there is no room for the axle seal, thus the need for the sealed green bearings. All 64-70 B-body axle assembly's are with-in 1" of each other. You'll need a V-8 K-frame from 62-65 or 66-70 if you want to set the motor reward about an 1" (much better fan clearance).

1-62 k frame is a 1 yr item that takes the correct brackets for 62 for installation. Not the same as 63-65.

2- All 63-65 v/8 k frames big block, small block are all the same, just get the proper engine brackets for your installation.

3-You can use 66 and newer k frame but will set the engine back approx 1 1/2 to 2". you have to change the trans crossmember or modify it for the engine setback.

4-These rears were used with the max wedges so I would think they are strong enough! The big issue with the rears is the brake drum removal. That can be corrected without replacement of the complete rear. The site below goes step by step on how to make them slide off drums.

Hope this information will help

Just use he trans conversion mount instead of changing the crossmember, Schumachercreativeservices.com has them.

Whoever you bought it from is the smartest man I've ever heard of. V8 to a slant, sounds like my kind of friend.
