Stupid question asked because I have a 2 door with a torsion bar crossmember rusted out on the driver's side, and a parts car with the same - but both are solid on the passenger side.

Since the crossmember isn't made new, I was wondering, well you get it I'm sure.

Good idea or bad idea?

If good, how can I quickly, and safely, remove the parts car section?

outside of the torsion bar socket? I used 16 gauge metal to repair one on a challenger, welded inside and out...... i also used a donor piece on my own car........

Unfortunately the crossmember is rusted on both sides of the torsion bar socket.

So, can I just take out the bolt from the lca then cut from the trans mount to the rocker right out?

Also, same scenario on driver's side, take out bolt and cut the section between the prybars out?

Obviously I know little about torsion bars, specifically removal and tension, however I need to junk the parts car by Monday!

on the junk car..... just cut the t bar..... and cut a large chunk where you need it..... trim it out after the fact......... not sure if the socket reverses left to right

Doh! Didn't think about whether the socket is reversible.

Removed torsion bar bolt and cut.

The socket is different due to the boot at the front and the clip at the rear. Off hand I can't remember if they're clocked the same for the hex. The clip and boot arent critical. But the clock position is.
