63/64 max Wedge hood appearance

In consideration of installing a max hood scoop how does everyone think it would look if the hood and scoop were painted satin black, while the rest of the car is whatever color it is, like say red or? I've been searching pics but kind find any of this being done on a 63/64

i prefer same body color for the scoop, i have a 64 dodge & plymouth with ss hood scoops on both. just my saying & likes.

I had a wo23 hood scoop that was black for many years. Once I got a new hood scoop I had it painted the same color as the car, it looks so much better imo.

My 63 Max Wedge. Painted mine green like the bottom of the car. Car has a black stripe so hard to see that the scoop has a black rubber seal to the hood. Always a matter of taste.

Does the hood have a slight curvature making for a gap with the scoop?

I did the satin black hood and scoop on a gloss black car. I liked the look. Since then the car is stripped to nothing for a complete paint job but it does look good in satin.

I have always used something to seal the scoop to the hood. This time my choice was a black rubber gasket as the black stripe on the car seemed to go well with the black gasket on the scoop. Mine being an aluminum hood would not seal well with the scoop. And want the air going in the scoop and not going out the sides of the scoop. Every car is different so some may seal well without any type of sealer. Good luck with your project.

Just picked up a 63 a couple of weeks ago myself. I prefer them body color. I am thinking white for the finished product for that under stated look.

Both are fine and I think black hoods are great. I had a GM that was burgundy with a black cowl hood. I liked it, but this looks better to me now.

If this makes any sense, if I do the scoop I am not cutting into the hood that's on it now. This paint job is way too nice to mess with. So i was thinking a fiberglass hood and scoop, since it will need to be painted anyway I thought trying satin black might work if not i could still change it. Plus since my paint is so bright I'm thinking that might work ok with the black hood, kind of tone down the overall brightness of the car. Never know until I try it.
