Hi All,

I am in the process of going through a 63 Polara, and found the shifter cable is leaking. I am in Australia and can't seem to find anyone in the US that sells them. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Any help in sourcing one would be great. Its for a 727. Thanks Martin.

I agree with King Kong. Schumacher Creative Services seems to be the way to go and the link he provided takes you to the page you need to start with.

I got cables 9 (both shift and park cables)from Joe Suchy his contact information is [email protected] 770-964-4441. Very nice parts and very good pricing. Joe is a great and knowledgeable guy to deal with.

When my cables started leaking years ago,I slid fuel hose over the shifter cables with little hose clamps on the bottom.

I did the same thing HEMI-ITIS did with the fuel hose and small clamps. If it's not a 100 point show car, it's a cheap and easy fix, and believe me, I'm all about "cheap and easy".

There's a couple on eBay. $362.00 for the one, wow!
On another thread we found out there are two different measurements for the shift cable. Don't know why. FYI
Part #s
2266404 - is a 44" long cable (was advertised as a 318 engine application.)
2266403 - is a 42" long cable (no reference to engine, correct ends and year.)

Mine is the 44 inch one. '62 Polara, 361.

X2 on Joe Suchy. Great guy to deal with.

Mine all used to leak. Easy fix. Get some heat shrink tube with glue in it. Slide it over heat and shrink. It won't leak again. If you can't find any send me your address and I'll send you some. Works perfect.

Thanks everyone for the great replies. Heaps of great info. Went with Joe Suchy. He had it in stock and its already on the way. As a person new to this model its great to have so many enthusiastic people willing to help. Blows my mind. Thanks Again. Martin.

You also have to remember that you may be dealing weith a right hand drive car and not a lefty as in the USA
The longer one is for the right hand drive versions as far as I am aware

Just an update, cable arrived and installed successfully. Works great. Had a small hi cup, where the end pull out of the r clip in the transmission. A clever mate managed to re install and adjust with a multi meter to find neutral.
