Can you change a push button 727 trans in a 64 to be used in a 65 with a colume or floor shifter? Have a pretty built trans. Out of a 64 that has been changed over to slip yoke and looking to see if I can use it in one of my it's.
You will have to change the valve body and neutral start switch, if '64 trans was originally in a push button car. If you have a '65 valve body, use it. 1965 column shift and console shift valve bodies were the same. If '64 trans was originally in a console shift car, it will be O.K. as is. Rooster comb and manual valve were different between two styles of valve body.
You can swap in a 64 console shift / 65 column valve body. Or you can just swap the rooster comb and manual valve from one of those valve bodies. Which is nice if the current valve body is modfied. 5 minute swap. It will also require a matching neutral safety switch which can be identified by a white nylon plunger.
